Copywriters often come to the trade in untraditional ways. Brooke Johnston, our new senior digital copywriter, fits the mold by not fitting any mold. At Ohio University, Brooke studied journalism with the goal of working at a magazine. After graduating, however, she discovered that she was more interested in what marketing had to offer.
Brooke worked in-house at various ecommerce companies in Cincinnati, including School Outfitters, a school furniture company. She also worked at an agency dealing with websites for retail brands. In Chicago, she did work for Capital One before coming to Envisionit. Brooke looks forward to developing digital content alongside the UX team. She’s also excited to work at an agency where she can interact with a variety of businesses instead of focusing on one industry. Brooke brings a host of talents and insights to the office, and we’re lucky to have her.
In addition to her copywriting prowess, Brooke is an accomplished baker. Her specialty is booze-infused desserts, like wine and cheese cupcakes and margarita cupcakes. Brooke is also an avid runner and reader. She lives in Wicker Park and loves it there.
A SHORT INTERVIEW WITH BROOKE
Three things I can’t live without are:
My iPhone, my adorable (but not very smart) cat, and coffee.
The fictional character most like me is”
Anne of Green Gables (either the book or the movie). She’s kind of a dork, but she’s chatty, loves to read, and has an overactive imagination.
What are your three favorite movies?
“Pride & Prejudice,” (the Kiera Knightly version), “The Breakfast Club,” & “The Shawshank Redemption” All classics!
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I was trying to think of something more interesting, but honestly, it’s pizza.
Fill in the blank: I’m really good at:
Noticing when other people get haircuts.
