Today, after months of testing, Facebook rolled out an update to expand the ‘like’ button with more choices. The launch of these Reactions doesn’t include the ‘dislike’ button that people were expecting, but the new breadth of responses should suit most of your needs. You can now respond to any post with ‘like,’ ‘love,’ ‘haha,’ ‘wow,’ ‘sad’ and ‘angry.’ The reactions are even available for Pages.
Facebook has reported that ‘love’ has been the most popular new option across all countries. Awwww.
‘Yay’ and ‘confused’ were also tested, but didn’t make the final cut.
For the time being, Reactions only animate on mobile.
There currently isn’t a way to target Reactions, but these capabilities may expand in the future once more data has been gathered.
A bit of fun
We decided to celebrate the launch of Reactions by emulating the full series.
