Whether or not you realize how many opportunities Chicago has for celebrating its LBGTQ+ community during Pride month, it can still be overwhelming and difficult to navigate all that the city has to offer.
Our friends at Choose Chicago, the city’s official destination marketing organization, have maintained one of the most comprehensive and easy-to-navigate lists of LGBTQ+ events year round, but also have a list of June/Pride-specific activities — for locals and tourists alike.
In honor of Pride month, as well as our queer friends, co-workers, and community — here are some of our favorite Chicago events happening later this month:
MUFFY FISHBASKET’S STORY TIME WITH DRAG QUEENS
June 17: A monthly feature at the Shapiro Ballroom, “Storytime” is exactly what you’d imagine: 2 amazing drag queens, 4 books, a mini-dance party and crafts! 100% of the proceeds are donated to promote education for LGBTQ+ youth in our elementary schools.
QUEEN! HOSTED BY LUCY STOOLE
June 22: Chicago’s “mother hen” of Chicago’s drag scene hosts one of the most thriving weekly parties in Chicago, with June’s event boasting special guests CeCe Penison, Dajae, Shaun J. Wright and more.

BACK LOT BASH
June 22-24: The Back Lot Bash Chicago kicks off with a Pride Family Fest and follows with two days of a signature outdoor music festival. The event is now in its 15th year and is one of the best-attended lesbian Pride events. This year’s lineup includes Brooke Candy, Sarah Shahi (Carmen from ‘The L Word’), Bridget Lyons and more.
CHICAGO DYKE MARCH
June 23: As a celebration of reclaiming the word “dyke,” the Chicago Dyke March is a grassroots mobilization that honors dyke, queer, bisexual and transgender people. Founded in 1996, this year’s march will be held in Little Village.
PRIDE NORTH
June 24: Chicago’s largest Northside pride party, located at the Glenwood Ave Arts Corridor, is a high energy queer party within a beautiful and culturally rich arts/theater district. Pride North features live entertainment on two stages, three dance floors, internationally recognized DJs, street performers, and more.
Always remember that Pride is far more than rainbow logos and parades. Those who have a say in creating, distributing and selecting imagery at any level in the advertising and marketing realm have the ability – and responsibility – to truthfully represent the diverse audiences they are speaking to. And there’s always room for understanding and growth. Let’s grow together.
